I’m Ready for the Eclipse

It’s solar eclipse day. You didn’t know? What, have you been living under a rock?

I know some people don’t care, but it is kind of interesting, although even I am sick of the news stories. The problem here in Chicago is that after all of this hype, after all of this “get your special glasses,” there is a good chance it’s going to be cloudy and we won’t see crap.

I’ve got my special glasses, though, direct from a lakefront bike ride to the Adler Planetarium, so I am ready, and if this one goes bad, I can keep them in a drawer until 2024 and maybe visit Austin, in the Spring, at least so says www.timeanddate.com

Be safe out there, use the special glasses, or a Ritz Cracker.

To be sure you don’t miss my song for the 2024 eclipse, you better subscribe now to my YouTube channel or “Like” “Songs By Andy” on Facebook!

Just Lookin’ Around

I’m looking at things while sitting in my car while recording this song.

Maybe I should have just been looking at the camera.

Ignore That Last Tweet

For a brief moment the folks in the Twitterverse had a tweet from me that wasn’t meant for the public.

My sister texted me, and as I was driving I did the hands-free things, asked Siri to read her text, and then, probably my error because Siri never makes a mistake, asked Siri to reply back, but somehow my reply to my sister ended up on my Twitter feed at @aplabis instead of as a text message back to her.

Lucky for me, but less entertaining for my followers (Hey, why aren’t you following me on Twitter?), it wasn’t anything racy, didn’t mention hate groups nor Donald Trump, but was simply “We are still thinking about it, why don’t you try to remember to call me tonight, because I’ll probably forget to try to call you.”

About the only thing my followers in Twitter gained from it was that I’m not that great at returning calls.

The tweet is gone, but the song lives on, although I’m sure that in some weird Twitter archive it might still be there.

Just Fart

Holy crap! Am I getting fancy, or what? I added sound effects and cheesy animation to a song about farting!

Can you call farting shooting a beaver?Do you like to fart? Doesn’t it make you feel good when you let one fly? As my 12-year old self took hold when I thought of this song, as acknowledged by my wife when she replied after seeing it, I couldn’t help but accentuate the original video with wonderful artwork and sound effects. The sound effects were needed as I didn’t have to fart at the time of the song, although that would have been awesome!

I Got a Lot

The theme of this song is pretty simple as I woke up this morning and realized I’m pretty lucky, and that I’ve got a lot, especially a good woman who loves me. Yay me!

If you ain’t got enough, and want more, I can at least give you free songs if you subscribe to my YouTube channel or “Like” “Songs By Andy” on Facebook!

Hair Emergency

My haircut isn’t scheduled for a couple more weeks, and sadly the quantity in my current, favorite hair product was mis-judged. Now it’s a scramble to find something that doesn’t suck in my hair, or turn it blonde.

My Lips Look Funny

In my morning song text to my wife of No Cheers for July 31st, she texted back that my lips looked funny.

My lips don't look funny!I know back in college people compared my lips to those of Huey Lewis on the album cover “Sports,” and I saw the resemblance, but I don’t believe anyone has ever described them as “funny.” Just another reason I love that woman!

No Cheers for July 31st

Maybe I do need to move somewhere warmer.

Here comes the end of summer! As the katydids have signified the end of summer with their song, now comes August tomorrow, the last month of meteorological summer. There should be no cheering for the end of July 31st as the end of summer is right around the corner. 🙁

My Coffee Mug is 32 Years Old

How old is your favorite coffee mug? I’d like to know because mine is 32 years old.

I know it’s 32 years old because it has an ’85 right on it. Yup, class of 1985. Go Lorain Catholic Spartans!

Antique coffee mugI’ve had this mug since I graduated high school, and I found it an odd gift because I didn’t drink coffee. Someone, knew, however, that it would be a good gift because I drink coffee, now. It’s been me through all of these years, and I’m hoping is sticks around for another 32 years.

“So Many Mattress Firm Stores,” Listen to My Song!

For this weekend bonus song, “So Many Mattress Firm Stores,” this was posted on my YouTube channel before I started this website.

It’s a weird phenomenon and marketing tool, but in Chicago, and other parts of the country, too, I suppose, there is a plethora of mattress stores, and especially here, Mattress Firm stores. It's another Mattress Firm store! It appears anywhere that there is a strip mall there is a store. Freestanding stores are popping up everywhere, and if you ever get the hankering to buy a mattress you don’t really have far to go.

In this song there are three Mattress Firm stores, technically between Naperville and Aurora, IL, in about a 1000 foot stretch. Don’t like the salesperson at the first store? Go ahead, walk across the street to the second, and another short walk to the third. You can also pick up some furniture, and even a mattress if Mattress Firm really pisses you off, from Penny Mustard Furniture. Notice, in this song, that you also get the benefit of excellent cell phone service.

As an even more added bonus, this song has an ever so brief glimpse of Mrs. Songs By Andy.
