Donuts and Beer

I may have stumbled on the best breakfast combo ever, donuts and beer.

Founders CBS and donutsAlright, there is still some testing to be completed, but this morning I bought donuts, and I bought beer. The donuts were from the bakery, and the beer was Founders CBS, so yes, I waited in line with other crazy, beer people, for beer. In my head it sounded like a great combination!

I admit that I didn’t actually try this breakfast because, well, the beer wasn’t cold, but I’ll have to put that on my list of things to try. It sure will get the day started a little differently than coffee and donuts.

The Last Lawn Mowing Day

This is, hopefully, the last time I’ll have to bust out the Craftsman riding lawnmower this year.

It was a gorgeous day in November. The weather was unseasonably warm, and the perfect day to give the lawn one, last mowing for the year.

The “beast” made it through one more lawn season. It’s now all prepped for winter storage with the spark plug disconnected, the battery put in storage, fuel stabilizer added, a little cleaning, and hopefully, come Spring, and not before then, it will start right up!

Yesterday I was tired, but I actually went to bed early. The result: I’m wide awake this morning!

Today’s burst of dopey-ness is simply from the fact that I’m tired today.

It is my own fault as I didn’t go to bed early enough, but it’s really one of those days when I wish I could have stayed in bed, could take a nap, and should go to bed early, even though I probably won’t.

When You’re Sittin’ on a Beach

So yesterday I sang about how I’m getting ready to accept the coldness of winter. Yay.

Hapuna Beach. Best beach in the world.
Hapuna Beach is ranked as one of the best beaches in the world. I agree.

Now, this morning I’m reminiscing that a month ago I was getting lots of beach time on our Hawaii vacation, including hanging at Hapuna Beach. Hapuna is rated as one of the best beaches in the world, but in thinking about it, the best beach in the world is really the beach you are on, isn’t it?

I miss the beach. 😕

The Leaves Have Fallen

I was reflecting this morning on how I have been programming myself lately to hate the upcoming cold.

I decided that I need to adjust my attitude and just accept the fact that I live in Chicago, and winter is a part of that living.

Now I’m almost ready for winter. Bring on the snow!

Wow, a song with a theme!

This is not my car.Yes, I realize I missed a lot of them, but somehow I was able to make a song out of various models of Ford automobiles. The thing was that I came up with the song while driving, and sadly I didn’t see any Mustangs, Flexes, Focuses (or should it be Foci?), nor the wonderful Ford Taurus.

I suppose the song could have also included a woman named Shelby, but the odds of me seeing that one are slim, and I really have no idea how to pronounce “GT.”

Chicago to Hawaii and Back

Do you have any pictures or video that you’ve taken from an airplane?

For me, I shot video for almost every takeoff of our vacation to Hawaii, and I decided to sing to them because, well, it just seemed like something to do.

Chicago at night from a plane, coming back from Hawaii!Our trip started in Chicago at O’Hare Airport and we flew to San Francisco for a layover. Then came the “over the ocean” flight from San Francisco to Kona on the Big Island. After hanging on the Big Island it was time for our trip to Kauai, but not before a layover. With that we had the Hilo to Honolulu trip, then the Honolulu to Lihue on Kauai.

Kauai was a blast, I missed the video from Lihue to Honolulu, but we had one more leg, from Honolulu to Chicago.

They didn’t bake any muffins at my bakery this morning, so my Friday was off to a rough start.
