I admit I have an obsession with garbage day.

This morning I had a wonderful song but forgot my camera microphone was only picking up the crunching and screeching sound of the snow instead of my beautiful song.

So, here’s my crappy sounding garbage day song, complete with a song about how crappy my garbage day song sounded, and some bonus footage of said crappy sounding song.

So much for “New year, new me!”

Yup, two days in and I broke most of my New Year’s resolutions. What we really might need is a New Year’s resolution testing period, followed by the things we are really going to do to make our year better.

Fine, I suppose I could start any of the healthy things I should be doing on any day, but it sounded so good to do it on New Year’s Day. Then came day January 2nd.

Oh well, looks like the “New year, new me” is “Last year, same me.”

At least for a few days.

Yes, it’s here. Snow.

I’m not really ready for winter this year for some reason. Maybe it was that trip to Hawaii, or maybe it’s just that being 50 and cold doesn’t sound that appealing, but I wasn’t looking forward to this at all. The thing is that every weather forecast mentioned snow coming this weekend. It’s not the weekend, it’s only Thursday.

I generally like to get to the dealer early if I need my car serviced, and this morning was no different.

I was so early, in fact, that they weren’t open yet. I wasn’t the first in line, which did kind of shock me, but that’s okay, it didn’t take them long to get my car finished and I would be on my merry way.

I may have stumbled on the best breakfast combo ever, donuts and beer.

Alright, there is still some testing to be completed, but this morning I bought donuts, and I bought beer. The donuts were from the bakery, and the beer was Founders CBS, so yes, I waited in line with other crazy, beer people, for beer. In my head it sounded like a great combination!

I admit that I didn’t actually try this breakfast because, well, the beer wasn’t cold, but I’ll have to put that on my list of things to try. It sure will get the day started a little differently than coffee and donuts.

This is, hopefully, the last time I’ll have to bust out the Craftsman riding lawnmower this year.

It was a gorgeous day in November. The weather was unseasonably warm, and the perfect day to give the lawn one, last mowing for the year.

The “beast” made it through one more lawn season. It’s now all prepped for winter storage with the spark plug disconnected, the battery put in storage, fuel stabilizer added, a little cleaning, and hopefully, come Spring, and not before then, it will start right up!

Yesterday I was tired, but I actually went to bed early. The result: I’m wide awake this morning!

It feels good to be wide awake, and combine that with some morning coffee, well, I’m off to the races.

Today’s burst of dopey-ness is simply from the fact that I’m tired today.

It is my own fault as I didn’t go to bed early enough, but it’s really one of those days when I wish I could have stayed in bed, could take a nap, and should go to bed early, even though I probably won’t.

I was reflecting this morning on how I have been programming myself lately to hate the upcoming cold.

I decided that I need to adjust my attitude and just accept the fact that I live in Chicago, and winter is a part of that living.

Now I’m almost ready for winter. Bring on the snow!
