Back in 2020, when COVID started, lots of people were able to work from home. Me, I had been holding the the fort, i.e., having to still go to the office every day.
With that I was looking forward to my first day of “working” at home. I had it scheduled for weeks, and then the day came. Yup, I worked from home, and we got snow. No mowing the lawn, no sunning outside, just stuck at home, well, working.

I still remember the “date,” on a May afternoon, when I re-met the woman who would become my wife.
It was a reunion of sorts after not seeing each other for over 20 years, meeting on a bench in Millennium Park in Chicago. Turns out my starting the conversation with “I’m not looking for any relationships. I still like all of my stuff.” was completely wrong.
Turns out I liked her, and her stuff, much better.

I get inspiration for these songs from everywhere.
On the day of this song I was having trouble thinking of something to sing for my wife when, on the sign for a bar I drive by, it advertised $4.00 Corona bottles.
In my head I wondered if that was a huge draw. I mean, is there someone who drives by and says “Gee, they have $4.00 Corona bottles. I must go there!” So I turned that thought into a story about a bar that was about to close until they had $4.00 Corona Friday nights.

The question of what should we have for dinner came up, and it was decided we should go back to our childhood.
Yup, chicken strips baked in an oven and mac and cheese.
Sure, the product choices are supposed to be a bit healthier, but really, it’s just chicken strips and macaroni and cheese. You may notice there are no vegetables. That is correct, I made dinner. I really went back to my childhood!

I have no way to relate to the loss people must feel when they lose their things in a fire, much like way too many people do whenever California fires break out.
It was while I was listening to a podcast with music man, Rick Rubin, on the Broken Record Podcast, and while talking with Malcolm Gladwell about losing his house in the fires, Mr. Rubin mentioned that “It’s just stuff.”
Hopefully, I will never have to deal with the pain and loss of my stuff in a fire, but if it ever does happen, I hope I can be thankful those that I love are still by my side because they aren’t stuff, they are life.

With 2022 coming soon, I’m hoping it isn’t a repeat of “So much for “New Year, New Me!””
Yup, back in 2018, two days into the new year, and I broke most of my New Year’s resolutions.
What we really might need is a New Year’s resolution testing period, followed by the things we are really going to do to make our year better.
Fine, I suppose I could start any of the healthy things I should be doing on any day, but it sounded so good to do it on New Year’s Day. Then came day January 2nd. “New year, new me” was “Last year, same me.”
I’m hoping next year will not be a repeat performance.
